Australia vs England Team Details for T20 World Cup 2024

The Kangaroos and the Lions play boldly against each other every time they play on the field. They will face each other on June 8 in Barbados at Kensington Oval. Both teams have been immensely successful in their Twenty-Twenty WC endeavours.

Australian team lifted the Cup in 2021 and will be looking forward to doing it again. Conversely, Team England will be trying to defend its title successfully. Let’s look at more details of the upcoming match in the T20 World Cup.

Australia - Team Overview

Australia comes into this tournament with added confidence! They won the ODI World Trophy last year. The charged-up Australian players such as Head and Pat Cummins come off a great time at the 2024 Indian Premier League.

Warner and Travis Head will open the innings, and it would be difficult to send them back to the pavilion. In the middle lineup, Mitchell Marsh and “Big Show”, aka Maxwell, will aim to steal the show.

Not just batting, the Australian bowlers, such as Mitchell Starc, will pose a threat, too. Zampa’s leg-spin bowling will effectively hold England’s batters. Green’s bowling in the middle order could be a surprise revelation for the opposite team.

Team News

  • Skipper Mitchell Marsh returned from this year’s Indian Premier League midway because of an injury. He is most likely to get fit for the very crucial game.
  • Despite an underwhelming IPL 2024, Glenn Maxwell is set to be retained in the Playing XI.
  • Matthew Wade will be the wicketkeeper in the XI

England: Team Overview

The Jos Buttler-led squad will be eyeing the title defence. They will be looking for opportunities to capitalise on even the most minor mistakes of their opponents. Buttler played a crucial role in ENG’s win and will hope to do something similar and exemplary this year, too.

Salt displayed phenomenal skills for KKR in IPL 2024, just before T20 WC, and is coming in with determination. For lower middle overs, the English team will rely on Liam Livingstone.

Jordan and Jofra Archer (returning from injury) will take care of Australian batters and their ball-hitting skills. Rashid’s bowling will also be of immense importance in subduing opponents' wrath.

  • Jonny Bairstow is likely to open with Buttler.

Australia vs England Head-to-Head
