Australia vs Afghanistan Team Details for T20 World Cup 2024

2007 was an interesting year for international cricket. The T20 World Cup was introduced, and India won. The tournament has now returned for the ninth time, and fans are excited to say the least. This year, it is hosted in two countries: West Indies, and America. 

The first official match will be held on June 2, in Dallas, and for the final showdown, the ICC will head to Barbados. This time, a whopping total of 20 teams, for the first time ever, are competing in the 20-over World Cup.

Before the official tournament, ICC has also organized a few practice matches, fifteen to be precise, so that the teams can get into the rhythm, and compete fiercely. The Kangaroos, and team Afghanistan will be playing in the practice matches too, but not against each other.

Australia Team Overview 

The Kangaroos come to win! They have signed up for a couple of warm up matches against WI, and NAM. The Australian players gave a tremendous performance in the Indian Premier League, and Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad was the runner up. 

It is being reported that a few Australian players have not yet reached the designated destinations for the practice matches, and hence the backup players might fill in. 

As of now, no injuries have been reported in the squad and after thorough assessment, Cricket Australia team have named two reserves, in case of any injuries.

Australia vs Afghanistan Head-to-Head Records in T20Is 

As per the stats, the two teams have only played against each other once in the 20-over format on the international platform and that was in 2022. The Aussies won that one by 4 runs.

For this year’s tournament, the two do not have a clash scheduled, but one could happen if they reach the Super Eight stage.
