His first-known cricket match was the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy in the Hyderabad team. In the next season, he was recognised as the best wicket-taker for taking 41 wickets in 9 matches for Hyderabad. He continued to shine by getting 23 wickets in 7 games during the 2017-2018 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Siraj caught the attention when Hyderabad bought him for 2.6 crores in the 2017 Indian T20 league. Later, he joined Bangalore in 2018 and did well, taking 11 wickets that season. He did something special in October 2020 by bowling two maiden overs in a single four-over spell – a unique achievement in the Indian T20 league.

His international cricket journey began in 2017 in a T20 match against New Zealand team. While he managed to wicket the important player Kane Williamson, he also gave away 53 runs in four overs.
