Jimmy Neesham - World Cup Career Stats
The last World Cup’s (2019) final match between New Zealand and England team ended in a tie as Jimmy Neesham picked up three wickets and threw the final ball to claim the run-out. A Super Over was declared, and Neesham was trusted with the bat again. He faced five balls and scored 13 runs, including a crucial six. The victory went to England as Neesham’s teammate Martin Guptill was run out. It was a sad day for New Zealand, but Neesham's contribution was highly appreciated.
2019 was not the first time that Neesham represented his country globally with a fantastic form. After stirring much noise in domestic cricket, he made his debut in T20I in 2012 against South Africa team. He did not live up to the expectations in his T20I debut, but he changed that in his Test debut against team India in 2014. The same match where Brendon McCullum became the first Black Cap to achieve a Test triple-century witnessed another record for New Zealand. Neesham scored a hundred, followed by another century in his second-ever test against West Indies. With back-to-back two centuries in two test matches, Neesham became the eighth player in Test history to do so.
