Francois du Plessis, popularly known as Faf Du Plessis, is a South African cricketer. He is the former captain of the South African Cricket team. He is a right-handed batsman and leg spin bowler. He is not a regular bowler and balls occasionally. He is considered one of his era's best fielders and all-format batters. He is regarded as one of the most tactically astute and successful team captains in all the formats of cricket worldwide. 

His winning percentage as a captain in ODI cricket is 73.68. He is the first international captain to defeat Australia in all forms of cricket in both the home ground of the Aussies and away from Australia. In 2016, he became the first and only captain to defeat Australia 5-0 in a five-match ODI series. In 2019, Faf du Plessis was named the South African cricketer of the year.

He made his test debut in November 2012. He was the fourth South African player to make a century in his debut match. After his remarkable performance, he was selected as the captain of the T20 team of South Africa. In 2017, he became the captain for all formats of cricket for team South Africa.

He played two seasons there and shifted back to Chennai Super Kings. In 2022, Faf du Plessis was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 7.00 crores. Apparently, Du Plessis requested Dhoni to include him in the CSK team. In the 2011 mega auctions, CSK bought him for Rs 50 lakhs. He performed impressively in the first few seasons. He used to bat in the middle order in CSK, as the established pair of Mike Hussey and Murali Vijay used to bat in the top order. In 2015, he moved to play for Pune Rising Supergiants. In 2018, CSK bought him back for Rs 1.6 crores. Faf Du Plessis rescued CSK during Qualifier 1 with a stunning inning that season and moved CSK to the finals.
