Aiden Markram Career Stats

Aiden Kyle Markram, the current captain of South India’s T20 squad, has often been termed the ‘next big thing’ for his country. Considering his aggressive nature of batting, many initially saw him as the replacement for AB de Villiers. Markram has done justice to the titles given to him on multiple occasions. However, his journey has not been entirely smooth so far! He enjoyed a quick and well-deserved rise to fame at the beginning of his career. Fans can proudly say that Markram brought South Africa its first-ever U-19 ICC World Cup trophy in 2014.

This World Cup-winning captain had a rough pitch ahead in his career. He made his international debut with good records. However, inconsistent performance soon became a common factor in Markram’s career. Injuries made the situation worse for him. It took some time to gain the experience and maturity much needed on the field, but Markram continued to work hard until he made a strong position in the national team. Unfortunately, South Africa ICC World Cup 2019 squad, which included Markram, couldn't reach the semi-final. The team is determined to claim the World Cup trophy in 2023, and everyone expects a great performance from Markram!

Aiden Markram Career Stats

The first time the world saw the power of Aiden Markram was during the U-19 World Cup in 2014. He hit a smashing 66 runs with six 4s, contributing to his team’s win in the final. He also received the Player of the Tournament award with 370 runs. His debut in test cricket at home lived up to the expectations. He scored 97, 143, and 125 in his first three tests. Overseas success didn’t come as soon as Markram had hoped. Disappointing performances in the India and Sri Lanka tours were problematic for the batsman and his team.

Markram bounced back and made his first century away from home in 2021 in Rawalpindi. He showed great skills on pitches that turned and remained low. Markham got a good grip in limited-over cricket over the next few years. The session of 2021 deserves a special mention here. Markham became the leading run-scorer from South Africa in ODI formats. His T20 World Cup journey was stunning. He did not stop there! His performance got him the South Africa’s T20I Player of the Year in Cricket award.

2019’s Cricket World Cup saw a good but not the most impressive performance from Markham. His total runs for the tournament was 140, with 17 4s.
